CSSANZ Media Award

PLEASE NOTE: The Media Award will not be awarded in 2020.


CSSANZ offers an annual Media Prize to be awarded for a published article, television documentary (or segment), podcast, radio interview or other media format, considered by the Media and Public Relations Committee of the CSSANZ to be of optimal benefit in terms of helpful information and reach to patients and public in that year.  

The award aims to recognise the important role the media can play in raising public awareness of the spectrum of colorectal disease, and the impact these conditions can have on patients.  

The Prize consists of a commemorative plaque and a cash award ($1000) from the CSSANZ. To be considered for the 2020 award, notification must be made to the CSSANZ Office, (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)) with evidence of the published articles by Monday 24th August 2020 (no specific application form is required).

2019 - Award withheld

2018 Winner

There were four entries in 2018 ranging across all media: print, radio, blogs and television, from a mix of health and medical journalists through to a CR cancer survivor living with a colostomy bag.  The winner is Gruen, Series 10 Episode 8 which included a segment about publicising the at-home tester kit, which also promoted bowel cancer awareness at the same time (on air during Bowel Cancer Awareness Week).
