Study Recruiting: Diet and Quality of Life After Ileoanal Pouch Surgery

Date: April 2026
Category: Research Participation

PARTICIPANTS WANTED

Researchers at Monash University are inviting adults living with an ileoanal pouch (J-pouch) to take part in a study exploring how diet may affect symptoms, gut function and quality of life following surgery.

Many people with a pouch report uncertainty around what foods may help or worsen symptoms such as frequency, urgency, bloating or pouch-related discomfort. This study aims to improve understanding of dietary patterns in this group and help guide future nutrition recommendations.

Who can take part?

The study is open to adults aged 18 years and over who have had ileoanal pouch surgery and are interested in contributing to research to improve long-term care for people living with a pouch.

What is involved?

Participants will complete an online survey about diet, symptoms and quality of life. Findings may help inform future dietary advice and support research in pouch health.

Why participate?
Support research into better dietary guidance for people living with a pouch and contribute to improving future patient care.
